The Reverend Frederick La Mothe, M.A.
1891-1896 Curate-in-Charge, 1896-1920 Vicar
Mr. La Mothe was educated at King William College, Isle of Man. He entered Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, and in 1868 took a degree in Classical Honours. He was Curate at Hewish, Somerset, and afterwards at Cork Abbey, Derbyshire, where he was also private chaplain to Sir John Crewe. After three years there he went to his native isle to become curate at Kirk Andreas, where he remained eleven years. From there he became Curate for four years at St. James', Higher Broughton and in 1891 was appointed Curate-in-Charge of the district of Heaton. On the establishment of Heaton as a Parish he became its first vicar and remained until his retirement in June 1920. After only a short period of retirement he died on January 10th 1921, at Seaton in Devonshire.
